Walkway Solutions were contracted with Civil Construction Services to complete the cycleway section from the Velodrome towards Hooker road in Cambridge.

This section of cycleway consisted of 1.2km of raised boardwalk at 3m wide with meshed rails either side and 3 steel beam bridges completed by Walkway Solutions. The 3.3km of concrete path was completed by Civil Construction Services.

The challenges faced with this contract were extremely wet ground, the amount of timber and materials involved and getting it to the various sites to be incorporated to each boardwalk. Some of the timber and poles were delivered by helicopter due to parts of the site being too steep and wet to be delivered by truck and trailers. We employed specialised pole drivers to drive between 3.6 metre -9 metre poles from 3 metres to 6 metres into the ground.
